WW2 Air Traffic Control Tower - A Home for Two Sisters.

Disciplines Interiors

Released 2010

Course work - A project to turn a world war two air traffic control tower in suffolk into a home for two sisters and her child. An extension on the garden side, a roof extension and a basement floor was added. The aesthetic concept was fluid and sculptural aided the use of curves. This was to create a connected and separate living areas for the sisters as was the brief for their new lifestyle. It was also to add a sensual feel and sense of shelter to counter the rigid 'boxy-ness' of the original building. It was my intent to keep with the original architectural language of 1930s modernism with clean lines, glass facade and predominantly open plan interior.
