Through an aesthetic refining treathment studio Jens Praet is presenting chipboard in a different way enhancing its beauty and archaic function. This honest material is turned into a contemporary crafted table and sideboard.
Both items are challenging us to question our usual preconceptions and associations with particle board by transforming it into a newly finished material paradoxly turned into archetypical furniture pieces.
The wooden particle grain is turned into an elegant glossy material and like laminated furniture any superfluous mark of assembly is removed. The pearl grey semitransparent lacquer is giving the sideboard a contemporary feeling while the semitransparant aquamarine lacquered tabletop is the final touch creating a gentle contrast between the top and the structure.
